WWE Friday Night SmackDown continues. Bayley and Sasha Banks are backstage, boasting about how much they’ve been brutalizing the division, putting down Carmella, Naomi and Lacey. They bring up how lame it is that the Bellas are getting into the Hall of Fame before them. Bayley says she’s done so well, maybe they can skip WrestleMania this year and just go straight on to the Hall of Fame. Sheamus is in the ring, waiting for his match. Backstage Apollo Crews is warming up. Shorty G comes up to him and Crews robotically tells him that he doesn’t need his help. G nonetheless claims that he’ll have his back and asks for a handshake, Crews just blows him off.
Sheamus vs. Apollo Crews
Sheamus swiftly takes Crew to the apron, wants the beats of the bowdry but Crews gets him with a hotshot. Up top, flying dropkick, standing moonsault for a 2 count! Sheamus gets him with a back elbow, kick to the face. Uppercuts nailed. Apollo fights back, hits the corner for a charge and runs right into a Brogue Kick. Another win for Sheamus.
Winner: Sheamus
If you’ll recall, Sheamus promised victory in a Men’s Elimination Chamber match that does not seem to be happening. So best of luck to him.
Backstage, Drake Maverick comes up to Drew Gulak and mentions how he’d like the next shot. He wants to face Daniel Bryan. Gulak says he knows all 146 of Daniel Bryan’s weaknesses and he doesn’t think Maverick’s up for it. This is a huge put-down when you consider Gulak has thrown Heath Slater and Curtis Axel at Bryan previously. Gulak’s about to explain a weakness that he has with his roundhouse kick, only to find that Bryan himself is right behind him.
Daniel Bryan says that he’ll be in Philadelphia for the Elimination Chamber this Sunday and suggests that if Gulak really does know all these weaknesses of his, he’d be happy to give him the chance to prove it. I didn’t know the Chamber was in Philly. I believe that’s actually Gulak’s hometown. So that’s pretty cool that he’s getting that chance to have a really strong match there. How much they’ll actually let him get against Daniel I don’t know, but I have to imagine this is only happening by Bryan’s request. So one would hope that means he’s getting a real match.
