As Saturday gets closer and closer, the AEW All Out predictions just keep on coming... (You can see my preview for the last match right here!) We got a high stakes tag match to talk about today. A lingering plot-thread from Double Or Nothing… let’s get right to it!
Best Friends vs. The Dark Order (Winners get a first round bye in AEW Tag Team title tournament)
As of this writing, we still don’t know exactly how many teams will be involved in this tournament. But it won’t be an even number. A first round bye is a coveted advantage to be sure, and one of these teams will be coming away with it. And while my predictions haven’t been great for the first few events thus far, this one atleast was right on the money. Back when this scenario was announced, I not only predicted that the Best Friends would win the initial qualifier but that the Dark Order would win the second, and even correctly guessed the opponents in their own three-way.
So that lets me come into this one with atleast a bit of confidence. Which is good, because I’ve also been predicting that people will be won over more by the Dark Order after watching them wrestle. And this match is a huge one for them, to be sure. It’s their first 2-on-2 bout on a grand stage against a team that absolutely killed it at Double Or Nothing. It’s quite the spotlight and quite the opportunity to earn more respect, which they seem to need at the moment.
Make no mistake, the Order need to shine here.
There’s no getting around the fact that they’ve been something of a misfire thus far. Their blackout appearances and attacks haven’t quite gotten the reactions that they were looking for. And while they looked good in there at Fight For The Fallen, it has to be said that the other two teams looked better than them in defeat. If they want them to be taken seriously in the tag division – and they certainly seem to – then they really need to come off well here.
Fortunately, they’re in there with a team that can certainly help them do just that. And even more fortunately, they’re in a good position to get a big victory as well. An advantage like an automatic bye is a classic heel trope achievement in my personal view. It’s not really something you want to hand baby faces, at least the way I look at it. It makes more sense for a villain to have so as to make others into underdogs. With that in mind, I’ve actually been picking Evil Uno and Stu Dos to get this nod for months. And I’m sticking to my guns on that one. Dark Order reign supreme.
AEW All Out takes place on Saturday, August 31st. It hails from the Sears Centre Arena in Chicago, Illinois. It will be airing live on Pay-Per-View and streamed on Fite.tv and B/R Live.
