The on-going AEW All Out preview, well… goes on! (Latest one is right here!) We’re getting closer and closer to Saturday and just recently, another match was announced, perhaps the last one that will be added to the card! We’ve got ourselves a trios match here, sure to be a fun one. Let’s delve into it.
SCU vs. Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus & Marko Stunt
Some extremely over midcard acts here. SCU are set to be cornerstones of the tag division as well as singles gatekeepers at the very least. Their shtick is simple but super effective, every town wants to be the worst town they’ve ever been in! They’re all really solid-to-spectacular in the ring on a given night as well, reliable performers that have seemed particularly motivated ever since AEW kicked off. How high on the totem pole any of them will be is still to be seen, but they’re valuable and they’ll be taken care of.
With them, we have a lot of veteran experience. On the other side, a lot of youth and freshness, competitors that have just recently started making waves. Jungle Boy tends to endear himself to any crowd he works in front of. His youthful charm and crazy long, luxurious hair combined with his big bumps and athleticism make him a great baby face. He particularly seems popular with teenage girls. Luchasaurus is a wrestling dinosaur with the best ring name in the history of ring names. I mean, there’s everything to love about it, honestly. And he’s got a master’s degree! Plus he’s a talented guy himself, and he’ll look enormous next to anyone else in this match.
Marko Stunt is another somewhat controversial signing, ala Orange Cassidy.
Some people just can’t wrap their head around the idea of a wrestler whose whole thing is that he looks like a child. Diminutive even by today’s standards with boyish features, even at 23 he looks roughly ten years younger than he is. But I see it as more a strength then a weakness, and obviously he does too as he plays it up with how he dresses. He’s not gonna make anyone think he’s a badass or a powerhouse, but the key is that he’s small enough to make even cruiser weights look huge. It’s incredibly easy for him to get sympathy, and incredibly easy to get heat for beating on him. That much, he’s proven. And of course he can bump like a mad man.
Mark my words, this will prove an asset. I see a Mikey Whipwreck kind of underdog role for the kid. Could easily see him becoming a star in his own way through that.
All that said… who wins here?
SCU have won their only trios match in AEW to date, besting the Strong Hearts at Double Or Nothing. In fact they haven’t lost as a threesome in some time. While their opponents have shown promise, they have comparatively little momentum. Still, SCU are hardly unbeatable, as they failed to win a three-way tag at Fyter Fest and fell to the Lucha Bros in their last outing. And a Boy And His Dinosaur have gotten pretty hot with very little thus far, something that’s definitely caught management’s attention.
They say they’ll listen to reactions and push people accordingly. This seems like a fine chance to prove it. Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus and Marko Stunt over.
Incidentally, you could make a good argument for making A Boy And His Dinosaur the inaugural tag champs… but we’ll get to that when we get to it.
