We are just two days away from AEW All Out! We’re in the home stretch of predictions now, just three matches left to cover! (Check out the latest preview here!) And this one may well blow every other bout away… they’ll certainly try their damnedest! Let’s get the show’s one major stip match!
Escalera De La Muerte For The AAA Tag Team Championships: The Lucha Bros (c) vs. The Young Bucks
Escalera De La Muerte roughly translates to ‘Ladder of Death’. Obviously, it’s a ladder match, as going with the challenge the Lucha Bros laid down. But with a name like that, I imagine there’s an added implication of violence, ala ROH’s Ladder Wars. Either way, this has an extremely good chance of being match of the night, maybe even a match of the year contender outright.
This feud has basically been building since the beginning, with the Lucha Bros originally confronting the Bucks back on February 7th. Since then, the two tandems have squared off in AAA tag title matches and six-man bouts alike, in both AEW and AAA. Thus far, good things have happened every time they’ve touched. And now it’s come to this… a huge blowoff match if ever there was one. This one’s gonna be wild.
Homefield advantage has been big in this feud.
Their flukey, cash-in style initial victory aside, the Young Bucks have always lost to the Lucha Bros down in AAA. And the Lucha Bros have thus far failed to defeat the Bucks on an AEW show. While they got a nice win over SCU to build up momentum, they’re still hunting for a victory over their biggest rivals on AEW soil. And that’s a necessity if they’re going to keep claiming to be the best tag team in the world. Let alone the universe! What’s more, Lucha have the honor of AAA to defend here. Thus far, the promotion’s imports into AEW, while impressive, have a pretty poor win-loss record. And they certainly don’t wanna see the Bucks get a hold of AAA’s titles again.
In many ways, Penta and Fenix should be the more motivated team here. Especially since the Bucks will always be seen as an intrinsic unit, whilst many still look at the Lucha Bros. as more a combination of exciting singles stars. To defeat the Bucks on a stage like this would give them an intense injection of legitimacy in the doubles division.
But the Young Bucks do have much more experience in ladder matches, regardless of what name you want to give them. That will absolutely play into the story of this match, as a hurdle the Lucha Bros have to overcome. Still, just as the Bucks overcame their ring rust at Double Or Nothing, I see Penta and Fenix persevering here. Lucha Bros to get a big win.
AEW All Out takes place on Saturday, August 31st. It hails from the Sears Centre Arena in Chicago, Illinois. It will be airing live on Pay-Per-View and streamed on Fite.tv and B/R Live.
