Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here trying to wrap up my coverage for the night! AEW Dynamite concluded about a half hour ago, been another wild night here in the Wednesday Night Wars! Quite the time to be a wrestling fan, folks. Some very interesting matches and results from tonight, including the one this article is dedicated to!
In a unique tag match, Kenny Omega and Hangman Page paired up together, in spite of Page leaving the Elite a few weeks back. They faced off with Kip Sabian and Shawn Spears, noted enemies of the Elite, tonight on AEW Dynamite.
You can see an excerpt of my recap of this match below:
Sabian wants Deathly Hallows but Omega avoids it, V-Trigger! Sabian answers with a Pele Kick, but eats a running V-Trigger! Both men down, applause! Standing 10 count… but the lights go out?! Oh man… staying out for a while. Lights flashing on a man on the stage… Tully Blanchard’s tied up to a chair on the stage! is the man responsible, cackling! Spears leaves the ring and rushes up the ramp, frees Blanchard but Spears brawls with him into the backstage area! Kenny ducks a clothesline, Snap Dragon! Fires his gun, hits the ropes… V-Trigger to the back of the head! Hangman blind tags in, Buckshot Lariat and that is that!
Winner: Hangman Page
Kenny looks unsure of what to make of that, but decides a win is a win.
So Page and Omega indeed got the victory here tonight. However, the match did end conspicuously, with Hangman Page tagging himself in without Omega’s blessing to finish it off with a Buckshot Lariat. The celebration afterwards was there, but rather terse. If my eyes didn’t deceive me, I think Kenny actually went for a hug but Page didn’t really reciprocate.
This seems to only feed into the much foreshadowed notion that Page may well be turning heel in the near future. Honestly, when the lights went out there, my mind jumped to Marty Scurll… I probably wasn’t the only one.
