Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here, still not quite done with my results posts for AEW Dynamite! A lot sure can happen in two hours.
One of the more off-beat match-ups of the night saw the Jurassic Express’ Luchasaurus take on Sammy Guevara of the Inner Circle. This match of course is occurring in anticipation of Jungleboy taking on the AEW World Champion Chris Jericho next week in a non-title match – the last AEW Dynamite episode of 2019.
You can see an excerpt of my recap of the match and what followed below:
Hits the ropes, Luchasaurus with a polish hammer, whips him, Sammy with a Leaping DDT! Sammy off the top with a moonsault, Luchasaurus grabs him by the throat from the mat! Leaps up, Sammy escapes the chokeslam, but Luchasaurus with a Roundhouse Kick! Tombstone Facebuster!
Winner: Luchasaurus
Jericho and Hager immediately charge and assault him, Jungleboy in the ring to help him out! Jericho tries to throw him away but he skins the cat to get back in! Gets a rana, hooks both legs – Marko Stunt counts the three and the crowd chants along with it!! They hightail it as Hager and Jericho are furious!
This match basically went as expected. Some good stuff, fun interactions, and we got to see what Luchasaurus can do in a non-squash environment. Ultimately he got the victory all the same however, which quickly set up some extracurricular activity after the fact!
As you can see the post-match attack didn’t go too well for the Inner Circle. Not only did the babyfaces manage to get one over on them, but they did so in such a way as to prove that Jungleboy can, in fact, get that three count next week! Just takes three seconds to get that upset, right? It’ll certainly be one to watch…
Of course that match is also noted to having a 10 minute time limit, with Jericho repeatedly declaring that his woods-based opponent couldn’t last 10 minutes with him. Just getting that draw would likely be seen as a big victory!
