AEW Full Gear is the first All Elite Wrestling PPV to take place since the inception of Dynamite. It’s a landmark occasion, and I’m taking a look at every match announced for the show, one by one. I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer and here’s what we’re looking forward to on Saturday!
Dr. Britt Baker, DMD vs. Bea Priestley
Britt Baker was the first woman signed to AEW and from the outset it’s been pretty clear they want her to be a star. Of course they want everyone to be stars, but her in particular, given her status as an actual dentist. She just makes for a good poster child of the division. However she hasn’t quite been taken to in that way so far. Four years into her career, she’s good but a little inconsistent, and still figuring out how to make her character connect.
As for Bea, the 23-year-old is even less experienced but has a lot going for her as an athlete, and her work as a regular in Stardom this year should pay dividends. She earned herself a little controversy over the summer, legit concussing Britt during their tag match at Fight For The Fallen. She hurt her so severely that she momentarily forgot who her partner was, going towards the wrong corner for a tag. This was quickly worked into storylines, with Britt going right for her at All Out’s Casino Royale. After that, she was reported to have gotten into a backstage altercation with Sadie Gibbs, furthering her renegade reputation.
Suffice to say, this feud has been building for a while.
I suspect at first this was intended to be promoted a little more and likely be a main card match. They filmed a pretty cool vignette for it which aired on AEW Dark this past week, with Britt letting Bea know how easy it’d be for her to rip her jaw off with her anatomical knowledge.
See you at #FullGear, Bea. @AEWrestling @AEWonTNT

In spite of it’s build, people haven’t got too hot for the two of them when they’ve squared off thus far, atleast not compared to every other feud AEW teases. I think because of that, and not wanting to push Britt harder than her reactions would demand, it ended up on the Buy-In of AEW Full Gear instead.
Nonetheless, I expect good things from this match.
If anything getting bumped should just get them all the more hungry and motivated. Whilst the Women’s title match on the main card should show off a lot of technique and athleticism, this one looks set to just be a fight.
Either could win, but when I look at Bea, I can’t help but think of how well she’d work against Riho. Bea’s really not a monster, but would certainly look and feel like one against her. So I think I’ll pick Bea to win, and likely be named No. 1 Contender shortly after.
AEW Full Gear takes place November 9th in Baltimore, Maryland out of the Royal Farms Arena. It airs live on traditional PPV in America and on FITETV internationally.
