– In AEW news, MJF has continued to throw barbs at Shawn Spears at every given opportunity. Spears is embroiled in a rivalry with Cody Rhodes, MJF’s on-screen mentor and alleged closest compadre. Ever since Spears cut Cody open with a vile chairshot back at Fyter Fest, MJF has made it known how much he despises his very existence.
He took it a step further in a recent Facebook post, however. After once again calling Spears a ‘piece of s***’, before claiming in no uncertain terms that he’d just slept with Spears’ fiancee. Spears’ fiancee just so happens to be one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Peyton Royce. He referred to her as a perfect 10, only to correct himself, stating she was more like a 2 or 3 without he makeup. MJF also poked fun at the fact that she’s the only champion in her household. He closed by saying she got the ‘MAX-imum ride’, and made a few jabs about a fish taste in his mouth. The post also has a crude picture attached featuring renders of MJF and Royce.
Technically these two are both heels, but AEW EVP Cody has in the past mentioned wanting to downplay the divide in alignments. To me the idea is to simply allow people to be characters rather than force them to strictly hate faces and like other heels or vice versa. It’s in-character for MJF to hate Shawn Spears more than any other individual right now, or atleast it’s in-character for him to act like he does. So that’s all that matters. That said, you can’t keep this up for too long without the two going to blows. I would expect that match to happen on TNT sooner or later.
Who the crowd would cheer for in that match, I couldn’t tell you…
– AEW has officially announced the signing of referee Bryce Remsburg. He has appeared on previous AEW shows in the past, and had a brief scene during an episode of Being The Elite, explaining the rules to the Casino Royale ahead of Double or Nothing. They must’ve been impressed with his work, as he’s now considered a regular part of their officiating team.
Exciting life news! As of today, August 1, 2019: I am officially under a multi-year contract to @AEWrestling, both as a referee and office employee.
As my dad remarked, "not everyone gets to live their dream" and now I am incredibly fortunate enough to be one of those few… pic.twitter.com/An6Kf9nYO6

– Current reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis recently spoke with Daily DDT and revealed that he’d received an AEW contract offer. But he turned it down as he didn’t want to leave the NWA. He said that if he could do both, he’d have signed and insinuated that he’d still be willing to do so if they changed their stance. Aldis says he maintains a very good relationship with Cody & The Bucks and had a nice exchange with owner Tony Khan as well.
Aldis is a 2-time holder of the famed 12 pounds of gold. He first won wrestling’s oldest title back in December of 2017. Since then, only 50 days have gone by in which he wasn’t wearing the gold, after Cody defeated him at All In to take the championship. He swiftly reclaimed it late that next month.
