G1 Climax 30 Night 14 saw former four-time Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion and Suzuki-Gun member Zack Sabre Jr (ZSJ) face CHAOS member Yoshi-Hashi.
ZSJ came into the match on the heels of a victory over current KOPW (presumably King of Pro Wrestling) titleholder and CHAOS member Toru Yano. On the other hand, Yoshi-Hashi came in off a loss to fellow CHAOS member and former two-time IWGP Intercontinental Champion Hirooki Goto.
G1 Climax 30: ZSJ v Yoshi-Hashi
ZSJ was able to control the pace of the match with his Catch Wrestling approach and his laser focus on working a submission throughout. While Yoshi-Hashi was able to mount offense at times, he never really seemed to settle in against the highly technical style of his opponent.
Yoshi-Hashi would be able to work several submissions of his own, including his Butterfly technique that he transitioned into a Butterfly Double Wrist Lock technique.
Yet, that wasn’t enough to put away ZSJ, who was more than capable of answering the question to the submission. ZSJ would be able to eventually work himself into a devastating submission hold.
He would gain the fall by submission at the 13 minutes and 34 seconds mark with a modified Clarky Cat hold to move his points total to 8. ZSJ remains alive in the G1 Climax 30 B Block after the victory.
His remaining matches are against former two-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Juice Robinson (October 14th) and former eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi (October 17th).
If ZSJ can win his remaining matches he will need help to advance to the finals, but if Naito loses he will be well on his way to making his first-ever G1 Climax finals appearance.
Yoshi-Hashi finishes the tournament against former NEVER Openweight Champion, New Japan Cup USA 2020 winner, and Bullet Club member Kenta (October 14th) while his final match is against fellow CHAOS member Toru Yano (October 17th).
