It has been an odd few years for the young upstart that is Lio Rush. He’s a man with more natural skill in one finger than some have in their whole bodies, and it was only a matter of time before he got to WWE.
There he quickly made an impact, became Bobby Lashley’s hype man, almost got a chance to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship at Wrestlemania, and even became NXT Cruiserweight Champion.
If you focus on all this, his WWE run was great. Instead, it was a mess of backstage issues, veterans feeling Rush wasn’t respecting them, and lots of shuffling around. All this and and being released in the middle of a pandemic did a rough deal on Rush’s passion for professional wrestling, but he’s not giving up.
Lio Rush Wants To Prove He’s Man Of The Hour
With Rush set to make his MLW debut with their coming restart, he is making waves in professional wrestling once again. He hopes to become a regular for the promotion, but isn’t just sticking with a single company, saying the following on the WrestlingInc Daily podcast.
“I don’t think I’m solely focused on MLW. I’m open to any opportunity that comes to the forefront like New Japan or like AEW, I have people on my list from all over like New Japan [and] AEW. I have people on there that’s currently in IMPACT right now.
So whatever opportunity comes in front of me, I’m kind of looking to rebuild that passion that I have for wrestling. So I think getting out there as much as I can and showing the fans and the world exactly why I call myself the ‘Man of the Hour’. That’s a moniker to live up to you, so I gotta deliver.”
His Future Is Bright
Lio Rush will make his NJPW debut during the 2020 Super J-Cup later this year, and will likely impress there. With him expressing interest in working for Impact Wrestling, he will likely pop up in the X-Division before long as well. That would just leave AEW on his list, another debut which only feels like it’s more when, not if.
Lio Rush teased retirement earlier this year, only to come back as good as ever. WWE might have killed his passion, but it was easily fixed. He’s now better than ever, and looks to make 2020 his best year yet. Are you excited for the future of Lio Rush? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
