The co Best of the Super Juniors (BOSJ 27) and World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) tournaments got underway on November 15, 2020. The event at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium drew a crowd of 2,558 (reduced crowd due to Coronavirus, 2019), and witnessed the largest card since New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) returned from the COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) delay.
The fourth match of the event and the second BOSJ 27 match saw the returning CHAOS member “Sniper of the Skies” Robbie Eagles take on Suzuki-Gun member Douki.
Eagles and Douki took shots at one another on social media leading up to their match, reflecting on last year’s BOSJ 26 contest on May 24, 2019, when Douki busted open Eagles. Eagles would defeat Douki in 8 minutes and 11 seconds on that night.
Douki was determined to change the outcome this year, showing the growth he’s undergone since making his NJPW debut last year during BOSJ 26. The match was competitive, with Douki showing the fire he’s brought forth over the past several months. However, the match would begin to tilt towards Eagles after he went after Douki’s leg.
Eagles would gain the submission fall at the 10 minutes and 35 seconds mark with his Ron Miller Special, Reverse Figure Four technique. The match allows Eagles to start his BOSJ 27 campaign on the right foot while making his return to an NJPW ring. Despite the loss, Douki showed he presents a new challenge for the rest of the BOSJ 27 bracket.
Eagles next tournament match sees him take on “Way to the Grand Master” Master Wato on November 18th, while Douki will face CHAOS member Sho on the same night.
Wato will present a unique challenge for Eagles, who may not be familiar with the development of the former NJPW Noge Dojo Young Lion has undergone since his excursion.
