New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) hosted the second night of the World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) tournament series in front of 1,433 fans at the Yoshitsune Arena within the Ishikawa Prefecture. As usual, during present times, the crowd number was reduced to fit NJPW’s COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) safety protocols.
The third tournament match of the event saw former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champion FinJuice (Juice Robinson/David Finlay) against the Bullet Club tandem “King of Darkness” Evil and “Tokyo Pimps” Yujiro who was accompanied by manager “The Spoiler” Dick Togo.
The Bullet Club team managed a surprise victory over the Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) team of Sanada and “The Dragon” Shingo Takagi during their opening WTL 2020 match. They also came into the match as underdogs against FinJuice, who won trophies during WTL 2019.
Despite their disadvantage, Dick Togo helped Evil/Yujiro even their odds against the fan-favorite tag team, who are both 2nd tier graduates of the NJPW Noge Dojo. However, FinJuice showed why they were able to win the WTL 2019 trophies.
Still, they were unable to beat the Bullet Club team, with Evil gaining the fall over Finlay at the 12 minutes and 11 seconds mark with his EVIL technique. The victory gave Evil/Yujiro a surprising 4 point start to the WTL 2020 series; after defeating two tournament favorites.
Though they were unable to move to 2-0, FinJuice’s opening night win against Guerillas of Destiny (GOD) gives them a tiebreaker against a team expected to be near the top of the table at the end of the series. They would go on to face HenarACE (Hiroshi Tanahashi/Toa Henare) on November 19th, while Evil/Yujiro went on to face fellow Bullet Club members GOD on the same night.
Evil/Yujiro’s surprising start makes them the darkhorse team of the WTL 2020 series. Remember to stay up to date with the latest news on TheOvertimer. Don’t forget to visit Gamestingr for great videos, news, and gameplay!
