The co Best of the Super Juniors (BOSJ 27) and World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) tournaments got underway on November 15, 2020. The event at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium drew a crowd of 2,558 (reduced crowd due to Coronavirus, 2019), and witnessed the largest card since New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) returned from the COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) delay.
The seventh match of the event and the fourth WTL 2020 match of the card saw the Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) team of reigning NEVER Openweight Champion “The Dragon” Shingo Takagi and Sanada face the Bullet Club tandem of Evil and Yujiro, who were accompanied by “The Spoiler” Dick Togo.
Sanada came off a G1 Climax 30 victory over his former Cold Darkness tag team partner on the last day of bracket competition, allowing him to advance to the tournament finals. While Shingo was able to defeat Minoru Suzuki to begin his second reign as NEVER Openweight Champion.
The match was competitive, with Evil and Yujiro showing better chemistry than originally expected. Yujiro continues to show his worth as a tag team wrestler within the Bullet Club unit. However, the team struggled to deal with the more experienced Sanada and Shingo team.
Togo made his presence known, as he does in every Evil match, tilting the advantage to Bullet Club. Yet, Sanada and Shingo were able to battle back but were not strong enough on the night to capture a victory.
Evil would gain the fall over Sanada with his EVIL technique at the 12 minutes and 20 seconds mark, to start he and Yujiro’s WTL 2020 campaign off on the right track.
The loss for Sanada and Shingo was unexpected, but they have the opportunity to make a strong showing throughout the remainder of the tournament.
