X-Division Superstar of the Year
We got a flashback match to 2020’s Hard to Kill where Ace Austin defended his X-Division Championship against Trey Miquel.
As voted by the fans, the X-Division Superstar of the Year is…
Ace Austin won this award and hinted that he may return to the X Division since he’s apparently missed there
Tag Team of the Year
Josh Mathews and Scott D’Amore talked about Slammiversary and what it meant as it changed professional wrestling’s landscape.
The North vs. The Good Brothers Tag Team Championship match from Turning point followed, and it started the Good Brother’s title reign.
Tag Team of the Year winners are The North (Ethan Page and Josh Alexander).
This was a tough choice, but they’re deserving of this honor after their accomplishment.
Knockout of the Year
After showing Deonna Purrazzo and Jordynn Grace’s Iron Woman match, they announced the Knockout of the Year winner as selected by the fans.
Deonna Purrazzo won the Knockout of the Year, and she ran down her accomplishments like being the first Ironwoman and a two time Knockout Champion.
She humbly accepted the award, and said 2021 should be named the “Age of the Virtuoso” because it can only go up from here.
Moose’s moments
A replay of Moose fighting EC3 at Bound For Glory in an undisclosed location was shown as we got to see the pivotal moment of 2020 for Moose.
Until then, Moose was considered by many as a joke champion for claiming to be the TNA World Heavyweight Champion, and this gave him credence as possibly the most dominate champion in professional wrestling.
It then switched to Moose calling out Rich Swann last week by saying Swann stays hurt while he hurts people and he and Willie Mack had a confrontation while surrounded by security.
Who Shot John E. Bravo
Acey Romero visited Larry D in jail, and Larry insisted he was set up, and that Romero was standing next to him during the wedding.
He pointed out that when Lawrence D comes out he loses all control, and that someone sprayed Ring Rust to cause his transformation.
They figured out that it may have been Crazzy Steve, and Romero will do everything he can to help Larry.
A recap of Bravo and Rosemary’s romance, wedding, and trial followed.
Eric Young’s return
Eric Young’s return to Impact Wrestling was next as they focused on when he defeated Eddie Edwards for the Impact World Champion and the feud leading up to it.
Young’s attacks on Rich Swann were next, including Young’s match against Tommy Dreamer and others along the way as Young sought to dominate Impact Wrestling.
Joe Doering joining Young was next as they ran over and through people before adding Cody Deaner.
Don Callis and Kenny Omega rocked the wrestling world
Mathews said as messed up as 2020 has been, he never thought he’d see an Impact executive go to AEW Dynamite and help Kenny Omega win the AEW World Championship.
D’Amore gave him props for doing what he did as it’s shifted the balance of power in professional wrestling.
A recap of Callis and Kenny Omega over the last few weeks was shown next.
Rich Swann calling him out followed.
Callis and Omega responded live as they talked about their history and how Callis asked Omega what he wanted for Christmas, and Omega told him he wanted to run the wrestling business.
They went on about how Omega gave Impact the best Christmas present by showing up at the Imact Zone.
Omega said many have tried to mimic him, but he’s never been duplicated.
Wrestler of the Year
Before announcing the best wrestler of 2020, Mathews asked D’Amore what he wanted for 2021, and D’Amore said another commentator.
It was a great way to close out the show after D’Amore sent plenty of barbs Mathews’ way.
Mathews then announced Deonna Purrazzo was voted as the Best Wrestler in 2020, and she said how she’s not only the best technical woman wrestler, but she’s the best wrestler in the world.
She definitely deserves this and we want to offer our congratulate all of the winner in The Best of 2020 Part 1.
This was a pretty cool show and we got to see some fun memories. What did you think of it? Let Impact Wrestling Holiday Special Live Results know in the comments below.
