Satoshi Kojima To Face KENTA At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom

Once upon a time, Satoshi Kojima was one of the biggest names in puroresu. He was the first man to hold the IWGP Heavyweight and Triple Crown Championships simultaneously, and one of only three men to have held those titles and the NWA World Heavyweight Championships. This is in addition to six IWGP Tag Team Championship reigns with Hiroyoshi Tenzan, which alone would make him a legend.

Kojima has begrudgingly slowed down as of late, and after being used by Shingo Takagi as a way to advance to the heavyweight division, he was viewed as washed up. Not being in the 2020 G1 Climax, or even World Tag League almost cemented this. However, he gets a chance to redeem himself in the Tokyo Dome, in what could be his final singles match in the venue as he challenges KENTA for the IWGP United States Championship briefcase.

Satoshi Kojima Is Replacing Juice Robinson In This Match

At Wrestle Kingdom 15, we were supposed to see Juice Robinson be the one to challenge KENTA for the contract. Plans had to change, after KENTA broke Robinsons orbital bone during a recent tag team match, putting him out of action. KENTA after this was ready to sit the night out, only having eyes for the IWGP United States Champion Jon Moxley, or as he called him as of late, “Jon MOCK”.

Sadly, Jon Moxley won’t be able to make the trip overseas, and KENTA still has to wrestle. This is just because Satoshi Kojima demanded his chance. In his own words, ‘this aging 50 year old can still go like hell’, after nailing a Koji Cutter to KENTA on the December 23rd ‘Road To Tokyo Dome’ show. That very same night was when Robinson was injured, and Kojima was just throwing his hat in the mix, not expecting to actually leave with a shot.

It will not be easy for Kojima come Wrestle Kingdom 15. He’s been able to put down Young Lions and fellow veterans with that Cozy Lariat, but KENTA is a man at the top of his game. Add in KENTA having a murdereous rage inside for Jon Moxley he’s been unable to free and it’s not hard to see this being a rough night for Kojima. Can this legend turn back the clock and get one more big singles win? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
