On Smackdown Live right now, Roman Reigns is the undisputed top star on the brand. He has so much pull, that he didn’t even have to defend the WWE Universal Championship in the Elimination Chamber tonight. Instead, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, King Corbin, Jey Uso, Cesaro & Daniel Bryan will all battle it out for the right to challenge Roman Reigns later in the same night. They will go through perhaps the hardest match in WWE history, and then meet The Tribal Chief. Tonight could make a star if they go the distance.
Cesaro & Daniel Bryan Get This One Started
After Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, & King Corbin all took their pods, we knew Cesaro & Daniel Bryan would get this one started up. Bryan has had bad luck with Cesaro lately, dropping two losses to him. Cesaro got the shoulder tackle early, and grabbed a headlock. Bryan broke free, but took a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for a two count.
Cesaro took a running elbow strike before some kicks and european uppercuts, before being sent over the ropes into the chains at ringside. Bryan came off the top rope with the diving knee to the outside, before a missile dropkick in the ring for a two count. Cesaro was set up in the corner and Bryan was almost hit with a powerbomb, but got the hurricanrana, only to take a huge clothesline.
Bryan fought back with an armbar, before being picked up by Cesaro and almost got powerbombed. Cesaro fought free, and hit a big uppercut and vertical suplex. Corbin was next in, and he’d go right to work on brutalizing Cesaro & Bryan. Cesaro was thrown right into the ring with a huge hip toss, but came back with running uppercuts. Corbin caught Cesaro with Deep Six, before dropping Bryan as well, but couldn’t eliminate either.
This Is King Corbins Kinda Match, But Not His Night
Corbin would drive the knee of Bryan into Zayn’s pod, and just keep brutalizing that joint, wrapping it around the ring post and pulling back. Cesaro tried to attack Corbin from behind, but just got beat down as well. Corbin’s style matches this type of match, and he’d be driving his knee into Bryan as Sami Zayn’s pod opened.
Zayn would cower in his pod, taunting Corbin before Cesaro drug him out of his pod after rattling him around in there a bit. Cesaro did some damage to Zayn, before Bryan just drove him time and time again into the steel chains. Corbin nailed Bryan with a lariat, before being sent back into the ring. Zayn went for a helluva kick on Bryan, but got the pod of Kevin Owens instead. Bryan was back in the ring, and Corbin got a superplex off as Zayn hit a tornado DDT on the outside on Corbin.
Zayn would be lifted onto the top of Jey Usos pod, and Zayn was keen to hang out up top, before Cesaro made chase. He’d cling onto the side of the cage, take uppercuts but climb away from Cesaro until he was kicked down by Cesaro, who gripped the top of the cage, and did some pull ups afterwards.
Cesaro fell into the grasp of Corbin, who dropped him. Corbin hit a chokeslam on Bryan, before Cesaro countered one, and hit a diving uppercut to take Corbin down. The giant swing into sharpshooter would eliminate Corbin first from this match.
Kevin Owens & Jey Uso Work On Thinning The Field
In next was Kevin Owens, meaning Jey Uso was last. Zayn asked Owens for a truce, before Owens just threw him into the pods and hit a lariat. Owens would brawl with Bryan and hit a German Suplex, Cesaro with an enziguri, before Bryan got a sleeper hold. That hold was broken by Owens hitting a running senton on Cesaro, hurting Bryan as well.
Zayn would bite Owens as he fought off a superplex, but was dropped and hit with a superkick instead. Everyone was in the corner, so Owens hit them all with cannonball sentons. Zayn got him with the half & half suplex, before taking an uppercut from Cesaro, who took the running knee from Bryan, who took a pop up powerbomb! All four men were down, with Owens & Zayn up first. Owens hit a neckbreaker on Bryan, but only got a two count.
Uso would finally enter the fray, and Owens went right after Reigns’ cousin. It’s been Uso who has kept Owens from being champion, and Owens just wants to destroy him. He’d be driven into the pod, and they’d brawl through. Kevin Owens slipped away from a brawl and hit a moonsault onto everyone, before hitting some stunners.
Zayn was dropped in the ring, and that was it for him. Four remain. Uso would trap the arm of Owens in the arm of the chamber, before hitting four superkicks. Owens would be set free, kicked once more and hit with the splash, ending his night. Three remain.
Final Three Includes Starting Two
Uso went right to the injured knee of Bryan, before taking an uppercut and elbow drop from Cesaro, but he kicked out at two. A vaulting foot stomp got Uso, before Cesaro swung him into the steel cage. Bryan dove onto Cesaro, before he was caught and thrown into the ring. Cesaro went for a dive, but was kicked out of the sky. Cesaro got rolled into a kick, but Bryan couldn’t put him away so he’ll just kick his head in like they’re back in Ring of Honor.
The running knee was countered into a torture rack, which Bryan turned into a roll up for two. Bryan went up top, but was battered with uppercuts and dropped with a top rope gutbuster, into the single leg swing using the bad knee. As Cesaro was swinging, Uso kicked him out and hit the splash to take him out. Bryan & Uso were left, and Uso hit the splash, but Bryan kicked out at two!
Uso next dove off the pod, and just met the knees. Bryan pulled himself up, and nailed the running knee to win his third Elimination Chamber match! Can he beat Roman Reigns later tonight? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
