Before NXT UK shut down due to the global pandemic, Aoife Valkyrie was on a rapid climb to a likely NXT UK Women’s Championship match at the ill-fated NXT Takeover Dublin. Since coming back, she’s been struggling to get that momentum back, but has also been hard to take down whenever she steps into that ring.
Coming into this match, she is still undefeated in NXT UK, no one having figured out how to beat her, or kick out of her diving scissor kick dubbed Peripeteia. Tonight, she faces off with mother of three, Lana Austin, and next week will have her eyes on the championship clash between Meiko Satomura & Kay Lee Ray. She has to be getting close to a shot at championship glory.
Aoife Valkyrie Remains Undefeated
Starting up with a lockup, Austin would take Valkyrie to the mat before being outwrestled. Valkyrie would break out of a headlock, and hit a running shoulder tackle and flashy leg trip rollup for a near fall. Austin grabbed a wrist lock, but Valkyrie would counter out and sent Valkyrie shoulder first into the mat. Valkyrie would start to throw those powerful kicks, but Austin caught one and used the control to send Valkyrie face first into the mat.
Austin nailed the running dropkick, and took control of the match with some brawling. She failed to slam Valkyrie’s head into the corner, and took a running neckbreaker for a near fall. Valkyrie went for a running dropkick, but was faked out and rolled up for a two count. Austin got another quick rollup, but Valkyrie kicked out. Valkyrie nailed the step up Enziguri, and unleashed heavy strikes in the corner. A spinning heel kick dropped Austin. Peripeteia would follow, and this one was through.
