After Acey Romero infuriated Trey Miguel backstage last week, Trey defeated him in a solid match but it was only the tip of the iceberg and Impact Wrestling Preview is ready for the next step.
While Trey winning wasn’t a surprise as he’s one of the top talents in the world, the fact that Sami Callihan came to his defense was.
Well, kind of.
Callihan is a master at twisting people’s minds like he did with Ken Shamrock, so it’s no surprise he’s working an angle to confuse and twist Trey into being his accomplice for one thing or another.
After weeks of berating and humiliating Trey, Callihan came to his rescue when Romero and Larry D were beating him down after his victory.
But in true Callihan fashion, he didn’t stick around to bask in the confused fury pouring off of Trey.
Because of his actions, Callihan will face Larry D tonight and Romero will be in his teammate’s corner.
Will Trey offer the same helping hand to Callihan if he needs it, or will he come out and go after Callihan after everything he’s done?
This should be a fun and interesting encounter, and we expect Callihan to win the match and make headway in acquiring Trey’s help.
TJP and Josh Alexander vs. Ace Austin and Madman Fulton
TJP was thisclose to reclaiming his X-Division Championship when Madman Fulton attacked him to end the match in disqualification.
This touched off a beatdown attempt by Austin and Fulton, which prompted Josh Alexander to come out to even the odds.
Alexander has embodied a just and fairness quality about competition since joining the X-Division, so it makes sense he came out to prevent any further injury to TJP.
Now, the pair will face Austin and Fulton in a tag team match and has a great chance of being the match of the night strictly from an in ring storytelling and athletic perspective.
This will go a long way to build a feud between Austin and Alexander for the X-Division Championship.
An additional layer to this is they previously faced off in singles competition and in the tag team division when Alexander was with Ethan Page as the North, so the familiarity should help make this a fun match.
In the end, we expect Alexander and TJP to win, whether cleanly or by disqualification is the question.
