Jake Roberts has blasted Vince McMahon for how he felt that the WWE owner had exploited him in a previous story arc. The showdown in question involved Jake and fellow wrestler Jerry Lawler in which Jake’s alcoholism was played out from reality into fiction.
Jake Roberts: Vince McMahon Was An ‘A**hole’
In an episode of the Inside the Ropes Podcast, Jake called out Vince for his underhanded methods. He said: “Well, I thought it was a horrible thing for McMahon to ask me to do. It was cheap. It was disrespectful. It didn’t prove a damn thing other than the fact that Vince McMahon’s an a**hole, so there you go. Lawler, he’s in the same boat. Both a**holes.”
Even though Jake was outraged by the story, he has, nevertheless, made some efforts to address his demons. After all, he has children and grandchildren under his care. He added: “You know, I’ve got some issues that I have to watch, but it’s getting better all the time because I did quit smoking.
“That’s really hard to do. I will be around for a long time. I have grandkids I want to hang out with now. I want to make somebody else miserable [laughs], so have fun. Yeah, I’m doing much better.”
So what made Jake reach the point where he got addicted? He has been open in the past on his unhappiness and unfulfillment in life. By not having people around him, Jake spiralled out of control and starting doing substance abuse. In an interview on his previous documentary entitled, The resurrection of Jake the Snake, Jake was very open on how he got addicted.
He said: I think it’s a choice. The reason I did drugs and alcohol is I was trying to escape pain. Not pain from wrestling, but pain from my life. I was not happy with my life; I was very ashamed of what I’ve been through. I was very angry that I’d become a drunk and a drug addict, and I just kept using. And at some point, once it becomes addiction, it’s a whole different animal.”
It is good to see Jake doing much better and long may that continue. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below. Please also remember to stay up to date with the latest news on TheOvertimer. Don’t forget to visit Gamestingr for great videos, news, and gameplay!
