Friday Night SmackDown will take place this evening, and at the very top of the card there will be a match with implications on the Universal Championship. Daniel Bryan will once again be on the championship trail as he comes up against Jey Uso inside a steel cage, with a Universal opportunity on the line for the leader of the Yes movement should he pick up the victory.
However, could Bryan win the match and be on his way to another championship match against Reigns at Fastlane?
WWE News: Bryan vs Uso
The match inside the steel cage was set on last week’s episode of SmackDown, as Bryan demanded another shot at the title after claiming that his opportunity at the Elimination Chamber event was unfair. Bryan was forced to challenge for the title just moments after competing in the chamber, and went on to lose against Reigns in pretty straightforward fashion.
Tensions between the two have been escalating for a couple of weeks, but Uso couldn’t help but get involved in the segment between the two, and claimed that to get a shot at the title, he must first go through him. Bryan agreed and a match between the two was set for this evenings episode of SmackDown. It wouldn’t be wrong to suggest that Bryan will be a decent favourite to get the win tonight, but the exchange between himself and Edge later in the evening last week did raise the ante slightly.
WWE News: Could Bryan Main Event Mania With Edge And Reigns?
Reigns has made a habit of doing everything that he possibly can to successfully defend his title, and that has made him a very good heel throughout this recent run. A match against Bryan at Fastlane does have the ability to steal the show, as Reigns is pretty much doing that with every match that he is having at present, but that doesn’t rule out the possibility that there could be a screwy finish at the PPV before Mania.
That could potentially open the door for a huge triple threat match to end the show at Mania in April, and it could be a thrilling contest. There would be so many different dynamics in the match, and it could also open the avenue of Edge winning the title without having to pin Reigns and making him look weak.
