Earlier today, it was declared that at NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver, Finn Balor will defend the NXT Championship against Karrion Kross. They’d meet face to face, and after Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch showed up, they’re suddenly in a match for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Can these two rivals use their individual strengths to beat the best tag team on the brand and become champions?
Danny Burch Gets Hurt
Kross would start with Lorcan, and take him right down with a shoulder tackle before hitting an exploder suplex. He was keen to beat the champions by himself, taking Lorcan out and demanding Burch. Burch would be nailed with a lariat, flipping inside out before Kross applied a bear hug.
Kross was sucking the life out of Burch in the middle of the ring, but he’d fight out with some quick right hands. Eventually, Burch was free, but was hit with a scoop slam seconds later. Lorcan would finally save his partner, only for Kross to hit a suplex on both men to take them out.
Balor would tag in when Lorcan got back in, and quickly take Lorcan to the mat. Lorcan fought up and hit some strikes, before taking Balor down into an armbar. Balor countered a sunset flip into a dropkick, showing just how fast he can retake control of a match.
Karrion Kross Snaps
Lorcan would hit a back elbow to drop Balor, before hitting a snap suplex. On the outside, Burch was being checked out by doctors, having landed awkward on a suplex earlier. Lorcan was potentially alone, and took a Pele Kick to the skull. Balor would look for a tag but Lorcan took Kross off the apron.
Thankfully, Balor could stand with Lorcan and hit a double stomp before sending Lorcan outside. A slingblade on the floor would be followed with the shotgun dropkick, sending Lorcan right into Scarlett. It seemed planned given how he lines that move up every time.
Kross certainly felt this was intentional, as he beat down Balor on the outside and sent him into the ring. Lorcan hit the running uppercut and won the match. This wouldn’t lead to celebration, as Kross took out Lorcan before choking Balor out. Scarlett had him release the hold, so Kross could hit the knockout blow.
