Right now, many fans can agree about one thing in All Elite Wrestling. It’s not the style of wrestling, the choices of champions, but the frequency that they hold major PPV events. Right now, the AEW PPV calendar is simple. We get four major shows, those being Revolution, Double Or Nothing, All Out & Full Gear. They’re generally about three months apart, giving plenty of time for AEW to build up major matches. However, this does come with the consequence of these shows being quite long.
Not counting the Buy-In preshow, Revolution 2021 clocked in at 3 hours and 42 minutes, which is quite a long show. That’s fairly average for an AEW PPV as well. Their longest show was 4 hours and 41 minute at Full Gear 2019, which is a bit on the absurd side. So while the action is pretty fantastic? It can be a slog by the end. However, AEW owner Tony Khan has an idea on how to remedy this.
Tony Khan Wants To Add Intermissions To AEW PPV Events
While appearing on Busted Open Radio to speak about the coming Double Or Nothing PPV and AEW’s first house show, Khan would ask the opinion of having an intermission at PPV events. They had an intermission at The House Always Wins, which was a nice break for fans. He’d go on to explain how they’d handle it on PPV as well.
“We have great video packages and we could do that. Also, a countdown clock. If you watch the Road To or the countdown, you might’ve seen them, but that’s even better. They are part of the pay-per-view, putting some video packages up. I think it’s a good idea. If Busted Open hosts like it, that makes me feel a little better. Maybe it’s a good idea. If the fans like it, then maybe it’s a good idea,”
Having a break in a show where they show the video packages for the coming matches is a great way to give fans a chance to either take a break or get better caught up with the storylines.
