For the longest time, fans have been complaining about how KUSHIDA is being misused in WWE NXT. He’s been putting on great matches just about every week, but never was able to claim gold despite challenging for both the NXT & North American Championship. However, last week he answered the open challenge of Santos Escobar, and walked away with the NXT Cruiserweight Championship.
This made him the only man to have held both the NXT Cruiserweight & IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championships, a great accomplishment in its own right. But tonight, he pays his good fortune forward, and has opened an open challenge of his own. Who will step up?
Oney Lorcan Is Always Down To Fight
The music of Oney Lorcan would hit, and the former NXT Tag Team Champion made his way to the ring. Lorcan has challenged for this belt in the past, but never claimed it. Add in that his tag team championship reign ended due to injury to his partner, and that he pinned Finn Balor? Lorcan is more than deserving a title shot.
KUSHIDA would take Lorcan down to the mat to try and outwrestle him, before ending up in the leg scissor. Lorcan would lose control, before getting vertical again. KUSHIDA hit a quick kick, before being put in a headlock. He’d break free and catch Lorcan with an armbar attempt, but Lorcan quickly went to the rope. Lorcan nailed a chop, before being sent over the top rope as we went to a commercial break.
Coming back from the break, Lorcan was grinding down KUSHIDA in the ring with a submission. KUSHIDA fought free and launched some kicks, before getting free. He went for the handspring elbow strike, but Lorcan dodged and hit the running european uppercut. A knee to the stomach dropped KUSHIDA for a two count, before Lorcan applied an abdominal stretch.
KUSHIDA Won’t Give Up His Title Easily
KUSHIDA would break free and send Lorcan to the corner for a Shotei Palm Strike and some kicks. Lorcan would have to use the ropes to stay vertical, before KUSHIDA stomped the arm. KUSHIDA went for the Hoverboard Lock, but Lorcan blocked and hit the running blockbuster.
A hip toss into the dropkick was followed by a punch to the jaw. Lorcan had his arm kicked, before KUSHIDA applied the Hoverboard Lock. Unable to reach the ropes as KUSHIDA put himself between Lorcan and the ropes, he had no choice but to tap out.
After the match, Escobar, Wilde & Mendoza swarmed KUSHIDA, the three on one attack evened out by the NXT Tag Team Champions MSK, who came to KUSHIDA’s aid. Together, they’d send Legado Del Fantasma packing, and set up a huge potential trios match.
Could MSK & KUSHIDA beat Legado Del Fantasma? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
