At AEW Blood & Guts, Chris Jericho and his Inner Circle were defeated in the Blood & Guts match by MJF & The Pinnacle. This came after Sammy Guevara emotionally called for a surrender to prevent MJF from throwing Chris Jericho off the top of the caged structure. MJF decided to throw Jericho off anyways, and while the landing was set up as safe as possible, there was still an injury suffered.
Chris Jericho Has A Dislocated Elbow
On his podcast, Talk is Jericho, Chris Jericho would note that his elbow was injured following the fall at Blood & Guts. It has been revealed as a dislocated elbow, hence the giant brace that was seen when he showed up on AEW Dynamite to help douse The Pinnacle in Champagne.
We’d learn the severity of the injury in a report from Dave Meltzer, which states that Jericho is set to be out of action for 4-6 weeks. Jericho is a wrestler who rarely missed time due to injury, but with a stunt like the finish to Blood & Guts, the risk is always there. However, Jericho still has a match booked within that time frame.
What Will Happen With Stadium Stampede?
On AEW Dynamite, The Inner Circle would be granted a high stakes rematch with The Pinnacle. This time, should The Inner Circle lose? They need to disband forever. It will take place at Double or Nothing, and it’s set to be a Stadium Stampede match.
This is familiar ground for The Inner Circle, who were in the first stadium stampede match with The Elite at last year’s Double or Nothing event. They lost on that night, but that experience might be crucial, especially if Chris Jericho is potentially entering the match with an injury.
There is a chance that Jericho finds someone to replace him in the match, or that it ends up being four on four, with a member of The Pinnacle having to stay behind. However, the taped format of Stadium Stampede gives a lot of chances for Jericho to participate without worsening his injury.
