More New Japan Pro Wrestling Talent Coming To Impact Wrestling?

It’s become very clear that Impact Wrestling has finally been able to cure the old wounds between them and New Japan Pro Wrestling. From having Juice Robinson & David Finlay as the current Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions, to having El Phantasmo come over for a match over the X-Division Championship, it’s been helping to improve Impact Wrestling shows. However, it seems to just be the tip of the iceberg, especially if you believe Tommy Dreamer.

Tommy Dreamer Claims More New Japan Pro Wrestling Talent Are On Their Way To Impact Wrestling

While Tommy Dreamer is mainly known for his time in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and stints with WWE, he’s been working with Impact Wrestling off and on for the past decade. He serves as a writer and producer for Impact Wrestling at this point, and these roles allow him to give out tidbits of information like he did recently on the Busted Open podcast.

He would simply mention that more talent from New Japan Pro Wrestling are on their way to Impact Wrestling, but that was enough to help build up some extra excitement surrounding Impact. Especially with Slammiversary so close, who can we expect to show up?

Kazuchika Okada, Tetsuya Naito, SANADA, And More Have Links To Impact Wrestling

While the schedule for New Japan is a bit hard to call right now due to a recent shutdown, Slammiversary being two months away gives time for both companies to plan everything out. In a teaser for the event, Kazuchika Okada & Tetsuya Naito were both shown. These are two of the biggest names in the company. Okada is known internationally as perhaps the greatest wrestler of this generation due to his incredible matches with Kenny Omega & Hiroshi Tanahashi.

Meanwhile, Naito is consistently one of the most popular names you’ll find in New Japan. One of Naito’s stablemates in Los Ingobernables De Japon, SANADA, also has a link to Impact Wrestling, where he was actually a former X-Division Champion as Seiya Sanada. Others like current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay and Hiroshi Tanahashi have been seen on Impact programming over the years. Ospreay was part of British Bootcamp, while Tanahashi faced AJ Styles at Final Resolution 2006.
