For the past few weeks, Smackdown Live has been having a hard time keeping eyes on their show. Earlier this month with Throwback Smackdown, they managed to have 2.17 million viewers, with a strong 0.6 in the key demographic of 18-49. Those are great numbers for any wrestling show these days, but sadly WWE hasn’t been able to keep them. The numbers are in for this past Friday’s episode, and things don’t look great.
Smackdown Live Drew In 1.83 Million Viewers
Using numbers found on TVLine, we can see that Smackdown was able to get 1.83 million viewers in total this past week, with 0.5 in the key demographic of 18-49. This is down in viewers once again, as the 5/14 episode had 1.91 million viewers. They are up in the 18-49 demographic however, going from .44 to .5.
These aren’t major drops, but the trend isn’t looking great. Add in that summer is quickly approaching, and that will generally come with a drop in TV viewers across the board, and we could see more dramatic drops in the coming weeks. WWE will need to come up with a hot angle soon, unless they hope the return to crowds will sky rocket the ratings.
Next Week Could Be A Hard One For Smackdown, Head To Head With AEW Dynamite
This trend will likely continue next week, as Smackdown Live will not be the only wrestling show for fans to watch on Friday Night. AEW Dynamite has been forced to move to the Friday Night 8PM EST time slot due to NBA playoffs taking their normal spot on Wednesday.
AEW is bringing the go-home show to a PPV event as well, while Smackdown Live failed to set up a strong card for this coming week. We will have to wait and see what WWE has planned to bring ratings back, and beat Dynamite.
It needs to be noted that this information from TV Line is not yet finalized. Do you think the actual number of viewers for this past week’s episode of Smackdown Live will be higher or lower? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
