We’ve been missing one of the archetypes of WrestleMania 37’s main event, and it’s promoted many to ask, Where’s Edge?
After winning the Royal Rumble and picking Roman Reigns as his opponent, it seemed like Edge was returning to a more active role in the WWE than we expected.
We got used to seeing him on Smackdown weekly as he’d exchange barbs with Roman Reigns before he turned heel when Daniel Bryan found a way to insert him into his WrestleMania main event.
But after losing to Reigns and being stacked up with Bryan for the pin, Edge has gone missing.
So, where’s Edge?
A “Taker contract”
One possible reason could be he’s taking a break, and from some reports it looks like it’s that simple.
According to mediareferee.com, Edge reportedly as an “Undertaker contract” that gives him creative control over who he faces and when.
Billi Bhatti spoke on the Nitty Gritty Dirt Sheet with Vince Russo and he mentioned Edge’s contract with WWE.
According to mediareferee.com, Bhatti said, “He’s under what’s called a ‘Taker contract.’ You work whenever you want to work, you work with whoever you want to work with, and you have creative control over you story. Edge has a ‘Taker contract’. Everything that happened at WrestleMania was designed and booked (with everyone else) by Edge.”
If this is true, it definitely answers a lot of questions as to where he is. Edge has earned the right, so why not exercise it?
Which brand?
What’s going to be interesting is when/if he comes back, which brand will be appear on?
The WWE regularly ignore their brand separation to fix any ratings dips or storyline deficiencies that may be there, among other problems, so Edge could appear on any of their three brands.
He returned on the Raw brand where he faced Randy Orton and then won the Royal Rumble after missing months do to an injury.
He then switched to Smackdown when he challenged Reigns. But this doesn’t mean he’ll return to Smackdown now that his storyline is completed, and Raw could use, well, anything.
Raw’s been floundering in the mid card ranks lately and Edge could correct a lot of that just by being there and working with some of the younger talent in the ring.
He’ll be an asset wherever he goes, and we will love to see him grace the ring and our television screens again.
We also expect him to pop up when the WWE needs him most, so this is going to be an interesting wait until we find out where’s Edge.
Why do you think he’s been missing and which brand will he return to? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
