Ever since they left NJPW alongside AJ Styles in 2016, everyone knew Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson would find their way back eventually. While in WWE, they claimed the RAW Tag Team Championships twice before being released following their participation in the Boneyard Match at Wrestlemania 36. Since then, they’ve reunited with part of Bullet Club in Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks, and have mainly wrestled for Impact Wrestling. However, now the Good Brothers are finally making their way back to NJPW for the upcoming Tag Team Turbulence Tournament.
The Return Of Three Time IWGP Tag Team Champions With The Good Brother
While they’ve been less than impressive in recent showings on Impact Wrestling & All Elite Wrestling, returning to where this team has been most successful might reignite their fire. Karl Anderson in particular was one of the best NJPW had to offer back when he was there, a true utility player in both singles and tag team action. While they will end up back in the web of Bullet Club, meaning the interference in their matches won’t stop, this could be their true restart.
Their return comes alongside the Tag Team Turbulence tournament, where Good Brothers face Clark Connors & TJP in the first round. Other first round matches include Yuji Nataga & Ren Narita vs. Fred Yehi & Wheeler Yuta, Kevin Knight & The DKC vs. Royce Isaacs & Jorel Nelson (West Coast Wrecking Crew), and finally Brody King & Chris Dickinson (Violence Unlimited) vs. JR Kratos & Danny Limelight (Team Filthy). It’s single elimination, and winners get a simple trophy.
NJPW Finally Boosting Their Tag Team Division?
However, the real value of this tournament comes with a potential boost to the NJPW Tag Team division. Over in Japan, we’ve seen countless matches between Guerillas of Destiny & Dangerous Tekkers. It’s to the point where Tekkers defending the IWGP Tag Team Championships against Tetsuya Naito & SANADA got a sigh of relief.
Tag teams like West Coast Wrecking Crew, Yehi & Yuta, Good Brothers and adding in new factions like Violence Unlimited & Team Filthy can only help to boost the division. At the very least, it can help to elevate the World Tag League later this year.
Looking at the field for this tournament, Good Brothers vs. Violence Unlimited is the best looking final match, but West Coast Wrecking Crew would be a good finals matchup as well. Who are you rooting for in this tag team tournament?
