Right now, Thunder Rosa remains the AEW Women’s World Championship, even after two recent defences. Both Serena Deeb & Marina Shafir have been turned aside by Rosa, and she’s once again looking for a new challenger. However, this might be someone from another company entirely – as the ace of TJPW has managed to impress AEW.
Miyu Yamashita Got A Great Reaction From AEW Fans
Recently, ‘The Pink Striker’ Miyu Yamashita would make her way to AEW with a recent episode of AEW Dark: Elevation. Her debut match was a tag team encounter alongside Skye Blue, where they lost to former AEW Women’s World Champion Nyla Rose & Serena Deeb. Yamashita would get a great reaction from fans in the arena, and her presence brought some extra viewers to the YouTube based program.
She’s been renowned as one of the best wrestlers in Japan for years now, having had three reigns as the Princess of Princess Champion in TJPW. All three adding up to a combined 1065 days as champion. Yamashita only ended her third reign earlier this year, losing to Shoko Nakajima at TJPW Grand Princess ‘22.
Thunder Rosa To Get A Tough Challenger
All of this adds up to AEW wanting to have Yamashita back on their programming, and likely not just putting her on YouTube next time. Infact, the running report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer saying that she is set to be a future challenger for Thunder Rosa. This would likely result in the best match we have ever seen over the AEW Women’s World Championship, perhaps finally bringing it five stars like TNT, AEW World, and AEW Tag Team Championships have already found.
To get an idea of what Yamashita is capable of, you can watch her AEW Dark Elevation match here, or a match against Maki Itoh from Prestige Wrestling here, and Masha Slamovich here – all available free on YouTube.
