My oh my, was that ever a long night… but it was sure worth it! Ladies and gentlemen, Wrestle Kingdom 14 is, technically still upon us as we speak as we are now between halves of this pro wrestling extravaganza! Night 1 finished a few hours ago as I type this and frankly I’ve only just now begun to decompress from all that I’ve witnessed. As I said before any of this even started, it’s going to go down as a truly unforgettable weekend in professional wrestling’s storied history.
One of the night’s two faction-centered eight man tag matches made up the second bout of the main card, as Suzuki-gun took on Los Ingobernables de Japon. Suzuki-gun’s Zack Sabre Jr and LIJ’s Sanada will be meeting later tonight on Night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom for ZSJ’s RevPro British Heavyweight Championship.
Suzuki-gun (Zack Sabre Jr., Minoru Suzuki, El Desperado & Taichi) defeated Los Ingobernables de Japon (Sanada, Evil, Bushi & Shingo Takagi)
I figured since Sanada was the challenger it would make sense for him to get the win in this match to build a little extra credibility. But it would seem that ZSJ needed it more on this occasion, making me lean more towards the possibility that Sanada will be taking the gold instead.
You can see an excerpt of my recap of this match below:
Sanada escapes, tries to get ZSJ in the Paradise Lock but he counters this into a sunset flip pin, 2 count, Sanada fights to his feet, big forearm. Tag to Bushi who comes off the top for the missile dropkick, into his Spinaroonie! Bushi and Shingo with a double whip, charging knee from Bushi, running clothesline from Shingo, thrust kick from Evil, Backstabber from Bushi for the nearfall, broken up by the Suzuki-gun mates! ZSJ with a suplex, Bushi escapes, backslide, ZSJ counters into a submission, hooks both arms deeeep! Bushi has to submit!
Winners: Suzuki-gun
