Cameron Grimes has figured out smart way to get himself on NXT TV. Recently, we saw him goad Johnny Gargano into a match just before NXT Takeover Portland, and now he has done it again. This time he was able to get the Croatian giant Dominic Dijakovic. Normally this would be a battle of speed vs. power, but considering Dijakovic is just as quick as Grimes, that dynamic hardly existed in this match. Grimes would have to prove he was tougher than Dijakovic.
Cameron Grimes defeats Dominic Dijakovic
They would start slow, with both men not wanting to give up an advantage too early. Dijakovic would try to ground Grimes, only to eat a big dropkick for his troubles. This would only anger Dijakovic, who would ragdoll the smaller Grimes throughout the ring, before throwing him out through the middle rope. Dijakovic would make his way out to continue the assault, but a quick kick from Grimes put the match back in his favour.
Dijakovic would come back with a huge chop and a suplex, only for Grimes to bust out an impressive German Suplex for a near fall. The match would soon spill back to the outside, as Dijakovic would do a moonsault press onto Grimes. However, as Dijakovic would make his way back into the ring, Damien Priest would make his way to the ringside area and attack Dijakovic with a baton to the back while the official wasn’t looking. Once he made it back into the ring, he would be hit with Grimes signature running stomp, and Grimes left victorious.
An Upset Victory Could Lead To A Title Shot
With Cameron Grimes getting this win over Dijakovic, he will likely be looking to use it as a way to get a shot at Keith Lee and the NXT North American Championship. He got a big assist from Damien Priest, but it was his finisher which ended the match, and numerous ones before now. Grimes stop is able to take out whoever it hits, provided he finds the opening he needs.
A top level performer in his own right, this win will only boost his odds of finally getting the championship match he has deserved for months.
