Ever since it was announced that Eva Marie was returning to WWE, the fans have embraced her with tweets openly asking why she was re-hired when someone else was released. Eva Marie has always had a reputation of being a heat magnet in WWE, mainly due to her lacking skills within the ring. However, this suits Marie just fine, and she is embracing the unique role this gives her in WWE.
Eva Marie Has No Issues Playing The Villain
Recently, Eva Marie spoke with Scott Fishman of TV Insider about her WWE return. She had kept on good terms with Triple H & Vince McMahon, who were supportive of her outside projects, but there was a universal feeling that it was “when” not “if” she would return to WWE. The talks remained in circulation, and got serious around a year and a half ago.
She’d praise Piper Niven as being an incredible athlete she loves working with, before getting into talking about loving getting to be a villain in WWE.
“I love it. That’s what it’s all about. I have the best fans. The WWE Universe is 100 percent the best fans in the world. The fact that I get love and hate, that’s what it is all about. I have no problem playing that villain. I embrace the criticism and all the hatred because I want all those fans to come to a live show and boo me, cheer me, be extremely happy seeing the smile on my face get knocked off by a Becky Lynch or a Bayley or a Rhea Ripley or anybody in the women’s division. If they’re talking, I’m doing my job.
Her Character Work Since Returning Has Been Great
And get people talking Eva Marie has. She’s been living rent free in the minds of fans since her return. The rising tension between her & Niven after Marie refused to learn her name and was quick to steal the glory of a victory has also gotten fans excited to see her get her just desserts.
Marie is someone who knows exactly her character is, and how to best use it to get the right reaction. Even on Twitter she’s been playing it up great, claiming to have more wins than Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, Trish Stratus and Mae Young in 2021.
