To open the show on the latest episode of AEW Rampage, we got a great little match between Adam Cole & Jake Atlas. With Adam Cole potentially on his way to a AEW World Championship shot against Hangman Page, he was in top form for this match – and Atlas was able to match his skills nearly from bell to bell. However, an awkward landing off a springboard would leave Atlas with an injury to his knee, but he will not be out of action for long.
Jake Atlas Assures Fans That His Knee Is Fine
Taking to Twitter, Atlas would provide an update for his fans on the status of his knee, stating the following.
“I’m so freaking proud of that match. Thank you Adam Cole for pushing me to give you ME. My knee will be just fine. Thank you guys for your concern. I won’t be gone long!”
This is great news, and a sign that AEW has avoided two major injuries this week. Rey Fenix suffered an injury on the same night, as during the main event of AEW Dynamite – he’d land awkwardly on his arm after a table spot. Fans feared a broken arm, but Fenix only ended up with a dislocated elbow, and will just need a few weeks of rest.
AEW Is Running Into Issues As Their Roster Grows
We can only hope that Atlas is back as soon as he hopes, and that AEW still has a spot for him. Lately, we have been seeing the effects of AEW having a big roster and not enough TV time to showcase everyone. A great example comes with Jay Lethal, who made a big debut at Full Gear – only to lose a TNT Championship match and vanish from programming.
It’s getting harder and harder for anyone to find a spot on TV with AEW, and everyone is doing their best to step up their game. However, with even more names potentially on the way as the likes of Keith Lee exit their ‘non-compete’ clauses with WWE, and names like Atlas might risk only getting a shred of spotlight in AEW.
