It’s hard to tell if this is legitimate or fan speculation, but there have been numerous posts on social media about one of the possible storylines for Damian Priest and his Money in the Bank Contract.
To be honest, it’s fun to speculate about the possible storylines the WWE could do, but this one feels like a real possibility since the WWE did it before when The Miz challenged Otis for his Money in the Bank Contract.
Jey Uso Defeating Damian Priest for the MITB Being Considered by WWE
Granted, that was in Wrestler’s Court and we doubt we’ll see that again, though it was so bad it was fun.
Plus, there have been some weird decisions being made recently like when Rhea Ripley talked Priest out of cashing in on Seth Rollins after Shinsuke Nakamura targeted him a couple of weeks ago.
It was the perfect time for him to cash in in, and we speculated at the time that it seems like Ripley may be trying to prevent him from either rekindling his feud with Finn Balor or setting him up to lose the briefcase to Balor.
Or even that the contract was switched.
There are so many different angles it’s fun to play around with the different scenarios.
Jey takes over the Bloodline
Since there seems to be some uncertainty around the Money in the Bank, another possible scenario that’s been reported is the possibility that the WWE is considering Jey facing Priest from the MITB briefcase and winning it.
This would give Jey the chance to go for any championship he wants, and the smart money would be on him going after Reigns to finally end the Bloodline and take what Jimmy Uso prevented him from taking.
While that sounds interesting, there are a couple of problems with it. For starters, Jey is looking to rehab his image away from the Bloodline this would be a push back to where he was.
Of course, this could also be used as a tool to build for his eventual match against Jimmy at WrestleMania.
If Jey wins, then Jimmy can win the Royal Rumble and they get to live out their dream of facing each other like Bret and Owen Hart did.
If Jimmy stops Jey and the cash in fails, then it’ll give them a chance to build on their feud for WrestleMania.
The latter could be the better option since some fans feel they can’t do a program that will last until WrestleMania 40, but it also plays into the overused and tired trope where Reigns gets constant help to keep his title.
That’s the real reason the Bloodline has gone stale. He never defends it and when he does he gets help. It’s the same thing over and over and that’s why if they go with Jey winning the MITB from Priest we think he should succeed at cashing it in.
