Every summer, it feels like the veteran of the women’s division, Natalya gets a bigger push going into Summerslam. Last year she was put against Becky Lynch in a Submission match for the RAW Women’s Championship, and won the Smackdown Women’s Championship at the 2017 edition. However, things aren’t looking good for her going into the event this year, as she’s been asked to sit out of tapings.
Her Husband Came To Work With A Fever
First reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, we would learn that T.J Wilson (aka Tyson Kidd), came to the 6/25 tapings with a fever. Natalya & him both tested negative for COVID-19 in two different tests, but as a precautionary measure, the company asked both to sit out this weekend even though she was by all accounts, completely fine.
With how tense the situation is within WWE at the moment, coming to the arena with a fever makes no sense. Kidd works as a backstage producer, which involves helping put matches together and potentially running through spots in the ring with talent. Given his history with injury, it’s unlikely he does the last part. Jaime Noble who tested positive for COVID-19, who works the same job as Kidd was going through spots in the ring with talent, which helped to spread COVID in WWE.
This does show WWE trying to make smarter choices in regards to the safety of their employees, something which has become very important given the internal breakout of COVID-19 in their roster. The best choice would be to shut everything down completely, but the next best choice is just don’t taken unneeded risks. Things change on a whim in WWE anyways, fans are used to it by now. If a match needs to be altered? Just do it.
Natalya & Lana’s Partnership Will Be Setback
With Natalya now being involved with Lana as a tag team, she’s entering a higher role once again. We could see them be pushed into a reign as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, as they enter a feud with Liv Morgan & Ruby Riott of the reforming Riott Squad. Whatever plans are in place will be set back, as Natalya will be off TV for atleast a week or two.
