We are just one day away from the debut of the newest show in All Elite Wrestling. AEW Collision is set to be a weekly two hour live show, and will have two time AEW World Champion CM Punk at the helm.
His return is a major draw for the first event – where he will be teaming with the AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR to face Jay White, Juice Robinson and Samoa Joe. Joe is a man who knows Punk well – and feels that Punk’s drama with The Elite is his own to deal with.
“They’re Grown Ass Men”
While speaking with Sports Illustrated ahead of his trios match against Punk, Joe was asked about the divide in the AEW roster between Elite & Punk. The ROH World Television Champion had the following to say.
“This isn’t a divide, it’s an argument between men. All those dudes don’t represent the entire genre of their generation. They have their own issues and their own problems. I don’t think it’s that deep. They’re grown-ass men. They have disagreements, they can figure it out or not. That’s between them.”
Samoa Joe Considers CM Punk A Friend
When asked for his thoughts on CM Punk as a person – Joe would respond with the following.
“I understand the nature of the beast. It’s not a beast that’s easily tamed, so color me unsurprised. I don’t lie to myself and think that everybody acts the same way. People have their own interpretations of things. So color me unphased. The guy’s my friend. He’s been my friend for years, and I have a lot of respect for him. But I understand the nature of the beast. I know what to expect.”
Joe & Punk have not shared a ring in 18 years, but had some of their most acclaimed matches of their careers against each other in Ring of Honor. Many still hold their matches in high regard – adding excitement to a potential feud in AEW.
