WWE Friday Night SmackDown continues and now we have Triple H making his way out live to celebrate his 25th year in the WWE. On the way out he tries to take the cameraman’s job again but he doesn’t let him. Trips signals for a microphone instead and says it’s hard for him to even believe it’s been 25 years. Before he can say anything else, Shawn Michaels’ music hits and out he comes to surprise his buddy. He says there’s no way he could celebrate this without him. Says it’s the Game’s 25 year anniversary and he’s got two words for you: social distancing, and as he says this he tries to get Triple H to back off.
Michaels says he sent out hundreds of invitations to friends, loved ones, all the closest people in this world and… well, we’re all here for you. Triple H glances out and we get a shot of the completely empty arena. Trips says atleast Cole and Corey are still here, HBK says that they’re probably required to be here. Shawn talks about how he needed to repay him for the celebration of his own 25th anniversary show. Triple H awkwardly agrees. Shawn asks him to recount his favorite moment from that night and of course HHH can’t. Because yeah they never had one.
Triple H acts shocked and says heads will roll for that, he was totally supposed to have one! HBK says kidding aside, everything they did in DX worked, flawless execution, one take wonders, smooth as silk… and to celebrate this we then get a lowlight reel, showing a bunch of DX bloopers. These range from the Bill Clinton parody way back in the day and more recent stuff. I feel like many of these are actually being shown for the first time. There was a moment where Triple H was on the tank during the ‘invasion’ of WCW and it didn’t fire when it was supposed to, I’ve definitely never seen that.
Shawn says but all jokes aside, that doesn’t compare to what he’s done at WrestleMania, and then we have a surprisingly lengthy series highlighting how Triple H has actually lost a LOT at the Show of Shows, counting 13 of them!
HBK says yannow when you see it like that, you weren’t that good. Triple H asks how many losses Shawn had at Mania and HBK says it’s not about him. Triple H talks up all the big names that he’s been in there with and without those people in the ring with him, his career would be nothing. Shawn says he knows those people probably feel the same way and it was because of all these moments that his career took off. Of course there was that little bit of a hiccup when he met that girl, Stephanie No-Fun.
As he’s going on about her, she calls Triple H on the phone and we get a video call. Stephanie isn’t too pleased that Shawn was making fun of her. Trips tries to explain that he isn’t mocking her, but she can see him doing it live. Steph starts to run him down until Triple H hangs up and just tells HBK she said hi. Shawn says we should talk about Ric Flair and Evolution, and whaddya know, Ric Flair calls HHH next. Flair warns him not to let Shawn superkick him in a second. And then he starts fighting tears because he’s Ric Flair. Triple H hangs up and says Ric just can’t control himself, but Flair calls right back and now he’s openly bawling. This is a very weird segment and made all the weirder by having a commercial break.
After the break I believe Road Dogg is talking to Triple H on the phone now laughing about Flair crying.
Triple H just abruptly hangs up. Shawn says it’s almost time to go but Triple H says it’s okay, he cleared it with Fox and they can go as long as they want. HBK says that’s good because they haven’t even gotten to the Katie Vick segment. Vince McMahon makes his way out now and HBK says this will surely be a touching moment so he’ll just let them have this moment. Vince says under normal circumstances he’d come down there and give Triple H a big bear hug. There’s people no doubt standing all over the world in appreciation of this. And a lot of people would be chanting for Triple H but this time, most people would be saying boring. Vince has been talking for all of twenty seconds and it feels like he’s already rambling.
Vince brings up the Gobbledy Gooker and basically implies that Triple H was the one in the suit. Says the Katie Vick was atleast not only boring but in poor taste. Brings up the Bayley, This Is Your Life segment and says that was crickets and wasn’t Bayley’s fault. I guess maybe that was Triple H’s idea or something. Vince brings up their last match together in Saudi Arabia and says that was a terrible way to go out, that match sucked. Triple H and HBK are laughing. Vince demands they wrap it up and leaves, and the lights slowly fall. And now crickets are actually chirping. It fades to black as they chirp. That was uh, definitely a segment that happened.
