This past Wednesday at AEW Fyter Fest, we finally got to see the surprise that Andrade El Idolo was waiting to unveil. After being introduced to the AEW audience by Vickie Guerrero, he would be the one to introduce everyone to Chavo Guerrero Jr. The nephew of the legendary Eddie Guerrero and son of Chavo Guerrero Sr, he’s one of the more underrated wrestlers of the past few decades, and now at 50 years old he might look to prove he still has the skills in an AEW ring.
Chavo Guerrero Jr. Has Been Added To The Roster Page On AEW
While he was brought out as the business consultant of Andrade, a role similar to that of Zelina Vega with Andrade in WWE, Chavo Guerrero Jr. has been officially added to the AEW roster page. This is complete with a blank win/loss record, similar to others like Mark Henry & Paul Wight. Both of them have expressed interest in getting back into the ring for another match in AEW
This is likely to be the same story with Guerrero. While he slowed down in 2020 due to the pandemic, he was still quite active in 2019, having matches that regularly went past the 15 minute mark. Even in 2021, he performed as Josh Barnetts Bloodsport 6, where he defeated Rocky Romero by referee stoppage. He’s been keeping in ring shape, and with his safe luchador style, he could very well wrestle into his 60’s.
Already The Better Fit For Andrade
Even if Guerrero Jr. doesn’t get into the ring for AEW, he is already helping to boost the image of Andrade El Idolo. While Vickie Guerrero is one of the best heel managers of all time, she can almost take the heat from her clients too much. Andrade is better off with Guerrero, who already proved to be a better fit in their first night together.
This could also lead to Andrade having a tag team partner to take on the Lucha Bros with, which would likely be a dream match for someone watching. There is a lot of possibility in someone like Chavo on a roster like AEW’s, especially when you factor in his training abilities as shown by his involvement in the Netflix series G.L.O.W.
