The Virtuosa has established herself as one of the best wrestlers in the world, and she’s scheduled to make her AEW debut on the May 4th episode of Dynamite where she’ll face Mercedes Martinez for the Undisputed Ring of Honor Women’s Champion.
The two titles are an interesting story in themselves as Deonna defeated Rok-C on January 9th for the actual ROC Women’s Championship.
But that was before Tony Kahn purchases Ring of Honor, and since he didn’t have a say in it and had the ROH Supercard of Honor the same night of Impact Wrestling’s Multiverse of Matches, he had to come up with something.
Kahn said kept the lines of communication open with Scott D’Amore and that he didn’t want to ask Deonna to wrestle twice in a few hours, the idea for an Interim Championship came about.
Mercedes won the newly minted championship at ROH Supercard of Honor by defeated Willow Nightingale.
When they face each other to unify the title, it’ll mark Deonna’s long awaited debut in AEW, and there are a couple of storylines involving this that are pretty cool.

Marking a goal
Fans aren’t the only ones that have wondered when Deonna would appear in AEW as she talked about how she was disappointed more women didn’t go through the Forbidden Door.
It’s not clear if this is a Forbidden Door moment or her simply fulfilling a commitment, but it will be a moment to remember.
Tony Kahn has expressed interest in signing Deonna to AEW and she’s talked about her interest in working there.
So this could be the two of them testing the water as she’s accomplished just about everything she can championship wise in Impact Wrestling and could decide to move on.
While she prepares to face Mercedes for the ROH Women’s Championship, she’s also in a feud with Taya Valkyrie over the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship.
Taya defeated her at Rebellion to win and tie the record for the most AAA Reina de Reinas championships at four.
Deonna showed she’s now ready to let go of the title as she Taya on April 28’s episode of IMPACT! and it looks like there’s going to be at least one more match in that feud and it should be a good one.
As for whether or not this will be the first of many matches Deonna will have on AEW is yet to be seen, but if her matches against Mercedes in Impact Wrestling are anything to go by, it’s going to be a good one.
