The talk of the wrestling world as of late has been focused on Hana Kimura. Kimura was only 22 when she took her own life earlier in May, after months of intense cyberbullying. This came mostly from fans of the Netflix original series, Terrance House which Kimura was involved with in the latest season. During this season, Kimura would be painted as a villain after a rough encounter with another house mate.
They had just ruined the gear she wore during her Tokyo Dome debut, and she was rightfully mad about this. Most seem to agree that this is the origin point for the majority of the cyberbullying she would receive. However, it has now come to light that Hana was looking to get out of Terrance House around the end of last year, as per the highly respected Tokyo Sports publication.
Hana Kimura Wouldn’t Be Allowed To Leave The Show Due Her Agency
Like most in Japan, Kimura was signed on to a talent agency to further her career outside of pro wrestling. Most joshi stars end up retiring young, so it is not a bad idea to have this type of backup plan. She was signed on with a company simply known as WALK. Around December of 2019, Kimura would look to get out of Terrance House, with this being around when the incident that got her the backlash would air. However, reports from close friends of Kimuras would indicate that the agency would not even speak to her about this,
Around March, Kimura would lawyer up, and do her best to get out of the agency, with talks apparently on-going until her death in May without coming to a resolution. She would only be removed from her contract after her death, with WALK seeming to go with the story that she was released from it in March. It is a very messy situation, and one that sees this agency looking to distance themselves from it to save face.
It is hard to say that Kimura getting out of Terrance House and away from WALK would have helped in the end. The damage could have already been done, but a battle to escape her agency likely didn’t help her mental state in those final weeks.
In a perfect world, we could hope this could prompt a change, but as of right now the only change was that the season of Terrance House was rightfully cancelled. Let us know what you think of his situation in the comment section down below.
