If the Ring of Honor roster has any who could be considered legends, it’s PCO. Once known as Pierre Carl Oulett, and now the French Canadian Frankesteiner, PCO has been riding a career resurgence in recent years. This was capped off with him winning the ROH World Championship, though it was a short reign that followed. Recently, he’s been in a trio with Danhausen and Sledge, which while entertaining shows PCO really slowing down and moving down the card. Now, it’s been revealed that he won’t be signing a new deal with the company.
PCO Won’t Be Taking A New Contract
This news was broken by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. PCO has given ROH notice that he won’t be sticking around once his current deal is done. This could be why he was only on the pre-show of Death Before Dishonor, despite being a former World Champion. His contract expires on December 1st, which makes sense after he signed a two year expansion in December 2019.
He intends to finish out his deal, but Death Before Dishonor might be his last time in front of fans for ROH. Due to fears of the Delta Variant of COVID-19, they’re intending to ride out the year with closed set tapings, and even Final Battle 2021 is up in the air.
Time To Finally Hang His Boots Up?
While it’s unlikely given his passion for professional wrestling, but PCO isn’t getting any younger. At 54 years old and wrestling a high risk style which often sees him hit reckless dives to the outside? PCO is wrestling on borrowed time. He had mentioned that his next big contract would be his last, and this might have been it.
PCO is a big enough name to get steady work on indy wrestling events and fan fests as a legend of the industry. If he changes his mind and decides to stick around in the undercard of ROH, it will likely just be for the passion and wanting to help build up younger talents.
