As of late, WWE has been giving more and more experienced wrestlers from outside of their walls a chance in WWE. This hasn’t come with in-ring work however, but rather in producer roles. Some names from WWE’s past like Jimmy Wang Yang have tried for these positions, but it hasn’t stuck often. However, one person who stepped up to this job now has a full time gig – marking the first time Petey Williams has been signed to WWE.
Petey Williams Will Help To Put Together Matches In WWE
This is not a new role for Maple Leaf Muscle. During his many years in Impact Wrestling, he’s had chances to work as a producer. Having experience in that field can only help your chances, and clearly it paid off. First reported by Fightful, Petey Williams now has a full time job in WWE as a producer. It’s unclear if he’s got a ‘no cut’ clause in his deal, which is something which has been used to pull the rug out from underneath many names in WWE lately. Some have relocated their families to work for WWE, only to be released from their roles without warning.
However, that is worst case scenario. Best case scenario is Petey Williams is really able to find a longterm gig in WWE, and one that won’t require much physical action. Producers are often used on TV to help break up brawls, which has been seen with the likes of Fit Finlay breaking up fights in WWE over the years.
A Possible Surprise For The Men’s Royal Rumble?
However, Williams still has some gas in the tank when it comes to wrestling. Best known for being the man who originated the Canadian Destroyer, a popular flipping piledriver maneuver – Williams is a world traveled wrestler with some great skill. While he was brought into WWE to work behind the scenes, things change quickly in this company at the best of times.
At the very least, fans could get a shock entry from Williams in the upcoming Royal Rumble. Surprises always come with the massive match, and some fans would be excited to see his hit the ring and nail some Canadian Destroyers in the middle of that match. We can’t expect much more than that with Williams in WWE, but anything is possible.
