Michael Cole introduces Lacey Evans to the stage for an interview. She says the reason she stood up to Sasha and Bayley was because they’re bullies. Cole brings up her upbringing. Lacey talks about how much her father suffered from addiction and depression and simply explains that he lost that battle. She swiftly starts to tear up. She wants to show everyone that it doesn’t matter what card you’re dealt in life, you can stack that deck and play whatever game you want to. Ovation. Lacey says the hardest part of this position is knowing what people go through but it doesn’t matter because she made it. There’s nothing that you can’t accomplish if you set your mind to it.
Lacey says this is why she joined the Marines, it led her to a better life and led her to the WWE. Her goal is to use this platform to set a positive example, doesn’t matter where you come from or what you go through… kinda repeating herself a bit but it’s nice anyway. We see a clip of Lacey Evans’ family in the front row as Sasha Banks mocks them. Lacey again is proud that her daughter stood up to Sasha and in that moment she was brave. But backstage she was a seven year old crying. Lacey says Sasha took advantage of that moment, and now her daughter is more worried about her than ever. Evans says that last week, she put Sasha Banks on the shelf and wants to do the same to Bayley this Sunday.
But at that moment, Bayley emerges onto the stage to lay out Lacey Evans!
Dana Brooke and Carmella backstage being interviewed about the Women’s Rumble match, clear favorites. Carmella lists off her accomplishments, Money In The Bank winner, SmackDown Women’s Champion… Dana says everybody read her wiki page. Knows she’s an underdog but she vows to win anyway.
As she says this however, the brawl between Lacey Evans and Bayley spills to the backstage! They end up having to pull Lacey off of the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion as we go to commercial. Not a bad little hard sell for the title match this Sunday there. Lacey’s promo probably would’ve felt a bit more natural if it was a lot shorter, but I appreciate getting some emotion.
Later, Fire & Desire emerge for a match with Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross… but Bayley and Lacey Evans hit the ring, still going on and the other four women get involved too! Big Rumble match preview here!
