The Royal Rumble is fast approaching, and already the betting for that market has been gaining a lot of attention for fans who like to stake some money on one of the biggest events of the year.
However, some fans may not be happy with the current leader in that market as it could present a rematch of a bout we have already seen numerous times over the past couple of years.
Roman To Reign In Rumble…Again
That’s right, the current outright favourite to win the 2020 edition of the Royal Rumble is the Big Dog himself.
Roman Reigns is currently the heavy favourite with most bookmakers out there. Reigns last won the Rumble back in 2015. His victory was overshadowed by the loud boo’s that rang out around the Wells Fargo Center.
Matters weren’t exactly made any easier with The Rock showing up trying to cover the WWE’s tracks for being hell-bent on a WrestleMania main event between Reigns and Brock Lesnar.
However, in hindsight should the WWE’s plan of actually being to book Seth Rollins to cash in during that match, then it could have easily been a solid plan. But, that seemed like a last-ditch effort to save a rivalry that the fans really weren’t interested in.
It could be the same all over again this year, but the reported direction instead sees Reigns challenge The Fiend. Fans will already be shaking their heads in dismay at the thought of the Big Dog getting the rub of ending Bray Wyatt’s strong introduction of the creepy character.
Other Market Movers
The biggest market mover over recent months has been CM Punk. His last match came back in the Royal Rumble of 2014. Punk was eliminated by Kane, despite the Big Red Monster already being out of the match. It was the final straw for Punk, but a returning win in this match would be the perfect remedy.
It still seems somewhat of a long shot since it’s unlikely that he will go straight into his first WrestleMania back with the company in a title match. Plus, there is no guarantee that he is going to return to the ring.
Other noteworthy names in the betting market include Finn Balor, Kevin Owens and Kevin Owens. Cain Valasquez is also among the favourites, which would likely go down worse than a Reigns win.
Bray Wyatt is also the third favourite, which is a little surprising since he is already holding the Universal Title.
Either way, it will be a massive night of action that the WWE Universe are already counting down the days for.
