Surprise – Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs, aka Kane returns tonight! It’s that time of the week again, folks. Yep, time for another edition of Friday Night SmackDown! With the Royal Rumble and the vaunted WrestleMania season fast approaching, it’s an important time for positioning. Everyone’s keeping a particularly close eye on those that gain momentum right around this point. After all, it’s fair to say that every wrestling fan wants to know how Mania’s gonna shape up.
Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here and as always, I’ll be here giving you the previews for the show, as well as the live recap and results! There’s actually a fair bit on tap this go-round, not common for main roster shows. Except this week apparently, as Raw also gave me more to work with than usual… gotta appreciate it! Anyway, let’s get to it!
Kane to make a special appearance
So this isn’t super expected, but yeah. The current mayor of Knox County, Tennessee and former feared masked monster is gonna be appearing tonight on SmackDown.
Kane is noted for his history with Royal Rumble matches. He’s been in more of them than anyone, 19 among three gimmicks, and has more combined eliminations than anyone with 44. For 13 years he held the record for eliminations in a single match before Roman Reigns overtook him in 2014.
With this year’s Rumble just nine days away now, it would seem that we might be teasing one last appearance for the Big Red Machine, just to make it a solid 20 and get one last elimination in to add to that record. But then again, it’s also been a while since the Fiend has left a legend laying after a surprise attack. And with Kane’s well established relationship with Daniel Bryan, this would also be an easy way to add a little fuel to the flame… no pun intended.
This comes shortly after the return of the Big Show, another legendary giant who’s likely to make a guest appearance in this year’s Rumble.
