The WWE Survivor Series 2019 Kickoff is underway, and our first of four title matches has come and went. Lio Rush defended his NXT Cruiserweight Championship in a fast paced, exciting, innovative battle as one would expect. He squared off with Akira Tozawa and Kalisto, two very talented cruisers from Raw and SmackDown respectively.
After a relatively short but very impressive encounter, Kalisto hit the Selina del Sol on Tozawa, but before he could get the pin, he was swiftly hit with the Final Hour from Lio Rush for the victory. Thus he once more retains his title and continues on what has already been a pretty damn good Cruiserweight title reign.
Lio Rush Retains NXT Cruiserweight Championship At WWE Survivor Series 2019 Kickoff
The cruiserweights have benefited a ton from the move to NXT, both in terms of how awesomely their matches come off in that venue and in how much more exposure they now have. Whilst Tozawa and Kalisto still didn’t get much of a reaction, Lio Rush was relatively well received. I look forward to seeing the division continue to develop on the black and gold brand.
