It was reported last night that Marty Scurll has taken a big role in Ring Of Honor. He will continue to wrestle, but is also become a booker of the company. This is a role which put him alongside the management of the company, and he intends to use this link to help build a very good relationship for ROH.
Marty Scurll has been a member of The Elite for a long time, and it seemed like a forgone conclusion that he would be leaving Ring of Honor to join his friends in All Elite Wrestling. Instead, he could build a bridge between the two companies and join his friends that way.
Ring Of Honor Thrives On Partnerships
One of the factors that has kept Ring of Honor alive and healthy the past few years is that they have secured key partnerships meaning they are able to bring in talent from around the world. You can see talent from companies like CMLL & NJPW commonly featured throughout cards promoted by Ring of Honor.
They have also built up a relationship with the National Wrestling Alliance as of late, with teams from ROH being used in the 2019 Crockett Cup. NWA Champion Nick Aldis also made his prescence felt in ROH recently, interrupting a main event match between PCO & Rush.
Does ROH Have Anything To Offer AEW?
Where companies like CMLL & NJPW are able to use Ring Of Honor to get their talents exposure in places like The United States & Canada, that really isn’t something that would help All Elite Wrestling. They already have a bigger TV deal than Ring Of Honor was every able to have, and have bigger exposure. While Marty is a good friend of people in management at AEW, ROH is the only company with anything substantial to gain here.
ROH has fantastic talent to provide to AEW, like Flamita, Dragon Lee, Jonathan Gresham, Jay Lethal, Bandido, The Briscoes, Rey Horus, & RUSH. AEW has a stacked roster already, but some of these names are huge in certain circles could bring viewers along with them. That is all they really have to offer AEW in a partnership, which isn’t much in the grander view of the situation.
Do you think ROH & AEW can become partners this year, or will this be a failed effort by Mr. Scurll? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below, and stay tuned to The Overtimer as we will do our best to keep you informed as this situation unfolds.
