We’ve got another episode of NWA Powerrr on tap tonight. Sadly due to circumstance I ended up not doing a recap of last week’s episode. However I do intend to rectify that tonight, recapping Episode 6 before moving on to Episode 7.
But before any of that, let’s take a look at what’s on tap for tonight’s episode. Three intriguing bouts are coming to us out of pro wrestling’s vaunted timewarp!
The Question Mark vs. Ricky Starks
Yes, during Episode 6 it turns out we finally met the Mark, though we’re no closer to finding out the mystery man’s identity. I do have my suspicions but just from one match it’s hard to say, odds are good I haven’t seen whoever it is wrestle too many times in the past.
Whoever he is, he’s up against Ricky Starks here tonight, one of the NWA’s most promising rising young talents. He’s been on a strict winning streak thus far on NWA Powerrr, so it’s interesting to pit him against this brand new gimmick.
Straight-up, it’d be difficult to see Starks losing. But as far as I know his feud with Aron Stevens isn’t finished yet, and he may well interfere here and cost him a win.
Marti Belle & Thunder Rosa vs. Allysin Kay & Ashley Vox
We’ve seen this develop for a bit. Marti Belle considered Allysin Kay a friend but felt disrespected and betrayed by how the champion spoke down to her. Thunder Rosa emerged to tempt her into taking the step of turning on her, prompting this match-up.
These are the four women who’ve been most clearly promoted thus far, seemingly the top of the division in NWA. So it’s certainly interesting to see them all in the ring at once. It seems like it’d be counterproductive for Kay to pin either woman at this stage, given that they’re the two most ready-made challengers for her title. So I’m guessing that she drops a fall here to set up a challenge down the line.
Of course it’d also seem like it’d be too fast to do either match anytime soon, given that they’re the clear top directions. But Kay doesn’t exactly appear to have a litany of other challengers ready at the moment, so you do what you gotta do.
Nick Aldis vs. Trevor Murdoch (Non-title)
Yes, seemingly a rare non-title singles bout for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion here. Murdoch has thus far looked pretty impressive in his attempted career renaissance with the purest oldschool fed around. Going against Aldis now makes for quite the jump however.
Admittedly I don’t totally know who would be next in line to challenge Aldis right this moment, but I can’t really imagine Murdoch is gonna be getting such a shot so quickly, even if he has fit in like a glove to this point. I wouldn’t mind seeing him contend for the National title after a little bit of building though.
This should be a pretty good match though, and would certainly make for a fitting main event.
That’s certainly not all, but we’ll have to wait and see what else is in store on NWA Powerrr!
