It’s one of the most exciting times of the wrestling calendar folks. We are but days away from the 2020 edition of the WWE Royal Rumble! No matter what state professional wrestling may be in or how much interest is currently in the WWE product at the time, it’s hard to not get hyped when the Rumble rolls around! For some, the Royal Rumble is even more consistently exciting than WrestleMania itself!
There’s just nothing quite like a Rumble match. A sheer hour of over the top spectacle, and you rarely ever feel the time passing for the duration. After all, every minute brings something new. And that something often comes in the form of a big name! Perhaps a surprise return, or even a silly meme entry. Anyone that enters threatens to alter the course of the match completely.
And I gotta say, there’s a particular magic to a year like this one, a year where there really isn’t a clear winner to suss out. Granted, that has a lot to do with the lack of direction at the top of WWE in general. It’s very possible, perhaps even likely that the intended winners of these matches have changed several times over the past few months.
Regardless of why it’s that way though, it leaves us with a big field of potential winners that for the most part feel equally likely from the last. A lot of people have a legitimate shot this go-round. This doesn’t mean that Mike Kanellis is gonna come back out of nowhere and win the thing, but there are a lot of potential scenarios at play here.
And so, I’ve decided to take a deep dive into many of those very scenarios.
Over the next few days leading up to the Rumble event itself, you’ll be seeing a series of articles delving into many of the favorites to win this year’s two Rumble matches. Just to be thorough, I’ll be looking at ten potential winners for both the Men’s and Women’s matches!
On the men’s side, the names I’m choosing to look at (in alphabetical order) are: Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Keith Lee, Kevin Owens, King Corbin, Kofi Kingston, Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe & Seth Rollins.
And over on the women’s half, we have: Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Charlotte Flair, Kairi Sane, Naomi, Nikki Cross, Ronda Rousey, Sasha Banks & Shayna Baszler.
Notice anything curious there? Yes, I only listed nine names for each match. That’s because the field is so open this year that I don’t even think whittling it down to ten potential winners really does it justice.
So I’m letting YOU pick the last two names we’ll be looking at in this mini-series!
There are polls, both for the men’s and women’s matches, which you will find at the bottom of this page! Vote on who you’d like to see considered~!
(Note: For NXT guest spots, I’m only wanting to look at people who are somewhat likely to move to Raw or SmackDown within the next few months. Johnny Gargano for example has the gimmick of a guy who would never leave NXT for the main roster, actively based on his own feelings. Finn Balor JUST moved back there in October, Rhea Ripley only won the women’s title a few weeks ago… any of them could enter but actually winning is almost definitely not in the cards.)
