A few weeks ago, WWE’s faceless Luchador Sin Cara requested his release from his contract via Twitter. This was due to him feeling underappreciated as a performer, despite his years of competition in the company.
Today, wwe.com wished Sin Cara the best on his future endeavors, meaning he was granted the release he asked for.
Sin Cara
The masked luchador is the second incarnation of the character, after the original, now known as Carístico left the company. The man known as Hunico, who briefly appeared in the role during an injury to the original Sin Cara.
This incarnation was the one who formed the Lucha Dragons tag team with Kalisto, who would be the team who ended the monster reign of The Ascension during their days in NXT.
Sin Cara has been sparsely used since he and Kalisto split, with him having brief feuds with Baron Corbin & Andrade.
What Is Next For Sin Cara?
He has a few options. He might simply want to return to Mexico, CMLL & AAA are always looking for new talent. If he signs with CMLL, an appearance in NJPW won’t be far behind.
There he could reunite with former tag partner Camacho, now known as Tanga Loa of the Guerrillas of Destiny. Could we see him join the Bullet Club?
AEW has their roster stacked, so there really isn’t much need for everyone who leaves WWE to be signed. Unless a major name like Randy Orton, or someone long teased like The Revival leave, you likely won’t see them find a home in AEW.
Why Would WWE Let Him Walk Free?
WWE as of late have been hoarding all the talent they can. Maybe they finally realized that Sin Cara isn’t as popular a character as they hoped, and may look to recast him. Masks are fantastic for merchandise, and his mask is a beautiful one. There are talented luchadors like Humberto Carrilo & Raul Mendoza who would breathe new life into the character.
